WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Triple-digit heat scorched Kansas on Sunday, shattering decades-old weather records.
The National Weather Service in Goodland reported that the city reached 100 degrees by 9:54 a.m. Mountain time, just a few hours after the 5:42 a.m. sunrise. The city ultimately topped out at 107 degrees, breaking a record of 106 set in 1936.

Other areas of the state saw record-breaking or near-record heat:
Garden City
The weather service reported 109 degrees for Sunday’s high, breaking the 1960 record of 105.
Russell
Russell topped out at 109 degrees, eclipsing the 2002 high of 108.
Wichita
Wichita tied its 2006 high, hitting 105 degrees.

The Storm Track 3 forecast is calling for slight cooling in northwest Kansas on Monday, though temperatures will remain in the triple digits.
All of Kansas is under heat warnings or heat advisories.
