WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Bentley community is mourning after a volunteer firefighter died in a crash while participating in the American Legion Legacy Run.
According to the Legion, Michael Haas, a member of Post 128 in Sterling and a member of the Legacy Run’s road guard, died Tuesday after a motorcycle crash during Day 3 of the annual ride.
The group of riders had left Muscatine, Iowa, and were en route to Keokuk, Iowa, that morning when the crash happened.
“We’re going to remember his name. His beautiful smile. His goofy antics,” David Heredia Jr., chairman of the National American Legion Riders chief road captain of the Legacy Run, said in a news release from the organization.
