WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man who was bound over for trial in the assault of a Wichita police detective now has a plea hearing scheduled instead.
Dayten Pollard was scheduled for arraignment Thursday morning in Sedgwick County District Court. At arraignment, defendants enter a plea, and depending on the plea, a trial is scheduled. But Pollard is now set for a plea hearing next month.
Pollard is charged with:
- Two counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer
- Battery of a law enforcement officer
- Interference with a law enforcement officer
- Burlgary
- Theft
Pollard was arrested in March outside a North Broadway Avenue motel after police said he allegedly stole a Mercedes-Benz that had been left running in a driveway. He is accused of running from a police officer and a detective who were trying to arrest him, according to the Wichita Police Department…
