WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A former postmaster in western Kansas has pleaded guilty to misappropriation of postal funds after investigators uncovered a scheme involving falsified money orders.
Sierra Werth, 32, of Quinter admitted in federal court this week that she manipulated U.S. Postal Service money orders by issuing and voiding them under her own ID and those of other employees. The money orders were then cashed, but the Postal Service did not receive payment.
This activity began in 2024, and during that time, there was a growing financial shortfall at the Quinter post office. That prompted a deeper investigation by the USPS Office of Inspector General.
