WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Western Sedgwick County residents will soon not have to drive all the way into Wichita to renew their vehicle tags.
Sedgwick County Treasurer Brandi Baily announced Tuesday that a new satellite tag office will open Sept. 8 inside Lubbers Chevrolet in Cheney. Lubbers is providing the space at no cost to the county or taxpayers.
The full‑service station will operate Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m., with appointments currently available. The county said it will monitor demand and consider expanding service if needed.

The Cheney location will join eight other satellite locations, including three others inside area car dealerships:
- Derby Public Library, 1600 Walnut Grove Road
- Haysville City Hall, 200 W. Grand Ave.
- Mel Hambelton Ford, 11771 W. Kellogg Drive
- Park City City Hall, 1941 E. 61st St. N.
- Rusty Eck Ford, 7310 E. Kellogg Drive
- Sedgwick County Treasurer’s Office at the Ruffin Building, 100 N. Broadway Ave., Suite 100
- Walser BMW, 11000 E. 13th St. N.
- Wichita West Kansas Driver Licensing, 610 S. Tyler Rd.
