Wichita’s city government has set aside $100,000 to create a property tax relief program for homeowners—but what that relief will look like, and who will qualify, is still to be determined.
The City Council voted 6-1 on August 25 to adopt the 2027 Annual Operating Budget and 2027–2036 Capital Improvement Program, which includes $100,000 in one-time General Fund money for a “Wichita Homeowner Property Tax Relief Pilot.” City staff will design the program, and both the Mayor and full Council must approve it before any funds are distributed to residents.
