WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The City of Wichita is telling those living in the area’s largest homeless encampment site that they have to clear out by Oct. 12. That’s less than three weeks away.
The date was given to those living at Chapin Park, where, the city said on Thursday, about 20-25 people live. The city also cites the area as a problem for police and the fire department.
“This was an area of concern,” city spokesperson Megan Lovely said. “Situations had deteriorated. We have concerns from fire and police on access and consistent issues, so that’s been something our housing department has been focused on.”…
