Teen driver arrested after stolen SUV crashes with car in SW Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) — A 16-year-old boy is in custody after a stolen SUV crashed into another car in south Wichita on Thursday, sending two people to the hospital with critical injuries.

The crash happened around 11:57 a.m. in the 2600 block of West MacArthur Road, according to Wichita Police Public Information Officer Kris Gupilan.

Prior to the wreck, Wichita Police Property Crimes Resource Team officers were investigating an aggravated burglary out of Andover where a white Toyota Highlander had been reported stolen. Using Flock automated license plate recognition cameras, investigators located the SUV and monitored its movements for roughly 30 minutes while looking for a safe location to perform a stop, Gupilan said…
