A mix of clouds and sunshine today will keep partly cloudy skies around overnight. A spotty sprinkle or shower is possible overnight into the morning across southern Kansas. With a weak disturbance tracking through the Plains, more spotty sprinkles and showers will be possible on Tuesday with a focus more to the east into Tuesday night.
The atmosphere is grasping at straws to try to squeeze anything meaningful out. Any amounts will only be kept to a few hundredths of an inch at best for the lucky few who see any rain.
Temperatures through Tuesday morning will be comfortably cool with lows from the 40s to the 50s.
Afternoon highs climb a few more degrees with widespread 70s. It will keep warming into the 70s and 80s the remainder of the workweek.
Better chances for rain will enter the region this weekend. First across Western Kansas on Saturday and gradually over our central and eastern counties by Sunday.
Clouds will build into the region from west to east this weekend. A combination of these conditions may be factors for the Frontiers in Flight Air Show at McConnell Air Force Base, which the KSN Storm Track 3 team is a proud participant in its STEAM hangar.
Temps fall to the 60s for highs in the west and the 70s on Saturday for the Wichita area.
A front should cross our path, moving the rain out by next week and giving us another reinforcing shot of cooler air. Right now, it does not look terribly cold for fall.
