End of federal COVID-19 dollars adds to budget challenges for Kansas schools

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The end of federal COVID-19 dollars will be part of the calculation as school districts across Kansas look at their budgets. Kansas received about $1.4 billion from three packages with the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief money, or ESSER funds. When this money was first announced, schools knew they were on a timetable to use the funds, but challenges come with the end of the funding.
