Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting identified by KBI

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has identified the suspect in the fatal officer-involved shooting early Thursday morning as 43-year-old Larry Armour from Wichita.

Agents with the KBI and the Crime Team Response Team are investigating.

Derby uses eminent domain to make way for road improvements

According to the KBI, at around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers with the Wichita Police Department began pursuing a vehicle near East Byley and Schweiter Drive that was reportedly stolen at knife point earlier in the night. The driver of the alleged stolen vehicle has been identified as Armour.

Wichita police said Armour stole the vehicle at knifepoint from a roommate in the 100 block of S. Ridge Road .

The pursuit ended near East Harry Street and Green Street. Armour then fled on foot.

The KBI says Armour, armed with a knife, then entered a residence in the 2400 block of E. Harry through a back door. A man unknown to Armour was inside.

Just before 1 a.m., members of a tactical team composed of WPD officers, SCSO deputies, and crisis negotiators arrived on the scene. Negotiations were attempted with Armour.
