One dead after standoff and shooting in southeast Wichita

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirms that a man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in southeast Wichita. A police standoff of several hours ended with a shooting on Harry east of I-135 around 3 a.m.

Wichita police responded to a domestic violence call with a possible robbery involved around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and began chasing a suspect. The chase ended near Harry and Grove, when the suspect entered a home with a person inside. The WPD SWAT team was called to the scene.

The suspect was shot and later died at a hospital. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office were contacted to conduct an investigation.
