Police make second arrest in northeast Wichita double homicide

The Wichita Police Department Violent Crimes Team has located and apprehended an 18-year-old male suspect in connection to the ongoing investigation into a double homicide. The shooting happened in northeast Wichita on Friday, Jan. 26th and claimed the lives of 14-year-old Emoni Shears, and 19-year-old Jhiquez Roberts, both of Wichita.

A day later, a 14-year-old boy from Wichita was arrested on two counts of felony murder and one count of a juvenile in possession of a firearm in connection to the shootings.

The Wichita Police Department says the investigation is ongoing and urges anyone with relevant information about this case to come forward and assist investigators. Anyone with information related to this case and has not yet spoken with investigators, is asked to contact the Investigations Division at 316-268-4407.
