Design phase to begin on several Wichita road projects

The Wichita City Council has approved $2.735 million in funding to begin the design phase of several road projects around the city.

The projects include the 29th Street North and Broadway intersection, 2nd Street North from Main to St. Francis, Douglas from Washington to Grove, Harry from 127th to 143rd Street East, and Maple from 135th to 167th Street West.

The city will evaluate lane configurations, parking needs, pedestrian and bicycle components, and aesthetic enhancements. Once the designs are complete, it will return to the City Council for construction funds.

The council also approved funding for local wellfield improvements and will purchase new water monitoring equipment.
