Standoff ends at QuikTrip in south Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department says a standoff with a man with a knife has ended peacefully.

The WPD said the man barricaded himself in a vehicle with the knife. Police video from the scene showed it was happening in the parking lot of the QuikTrip at Lincoln and Hydraulic.

“Wichita police negotiators on scene speaking and attempting to De-escalate and have the subject exit the vehicle peacefully,” the WPD said on social media.

About 25 minutes later, the WPD updated the message to say that negotiators were able to bring the incident to a peaceful resolution.
