The latest on the Wichita wall that used to be home to a famous ‘Back to the Future’ mural

If you were a fan of the “Back to the Future” mural that graced the side of the building on the southeast corner of Maple and Seneca from 2018 until it disappeared in October, there’s yet another update.

Marty and Doc have recently been replaced by the partial face of a woman with parted red lips, suggestively tugging at the corner of her mouth. Next to her hand: the words “Gentleman’s Club” float above what appears to be a pole dancing implement surrounded by wafts of blue and purple smoke.

The business that currently occupies the building at 1021 W. Maple is the Spice of Life , a gentleman’s club. It moved into the building — which over the years has been home to restaurants, other gentleman’s clubs and even a retro arcade called The 1985 Arcade Bar & Grill — in December 2022.

It was during the arcade’s stay in 2018 that Doc and Marty first appeared. And even though many thought their noses were a little… off, people loved the mural. Every tenant after the arcade closed chose to keep it in place, but the owners of Spice of Life said when they moved in that they’d probably opt to paint over it.
