Faith Swart, a Maize High School senior, received the 2024 Clay Barton Scholarship from the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University (WSU). The scholarship, worth $50,000, is one of Kansas’ largest business scholarships. The announcement was made during a class, with officials from both the Barton School and Maize High School present.

Swart was pleased to receive the scholarship, stating it would provide opportunities like internships, sorority membership, and club participation. She intends to major in marketing. The selection process involved competition with other high school seniors through speeches, group exercises, and other activities.

Dr. Larisa Genin, the Barton School’s Dean, commended Swart’s communication skills and ambition. Genin looks forward to Swart’s future achievements at WSU and beyond, noting that Barton Scholars are among their program’s top students and alumni.

Swart is not only academically accomplished but also holds leadership positions in the National Honor Society and Student Council. She is a Student Ambassador and participates in track and cross country at Maize High School. She will start her WSU classes in Fall 2024.
