WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita police are warning about a phone scam with a new claim.
Police say scammers are calling Wichita residents claiming they are with the “Wichita Police Department Internet Against Children Taskforce.” The callers then try to get personal information from their potential victims or attempt to get payments via gift cards.
Wichita police want to remind the public that they will never call you to pay a citation, clear a warrant, or solicit money.

If you believe you have been a victim of the scam or any other scam, police urge you to call the case desk at 316-268-4221. Be sure to provide as much information as you can.
Those outside of Wichita should contact their local law enforcement office. You are also encouraged to report scam calls to the Federal Trade Commission .
