Sewer reconstruction scheduled for southeast Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The City of Wichita is hosting a public information meeting for residents in southeast Wichita about a sewer line reconstruction project scheduled to begin in March.

The City of Wichita will replace a sewer line that currently runs underneath southbound lanes of Interstate 135 from just north of Pawnee to the sewage treatment plant facility. The new line will run underneath portions of Southeast Boulevard to just north of Pawnee.

Contractors are scheduled to begin exploratory excavations in March. Replacement is expected to begin in May.

Megan Lovely with the city of Wichita says residents who live in the construction area will have modified access during the construction, which is expected to be completed in 2025.

The city is hosting a public information meeting on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at the Wichita Water Center, located at 101 E. Pawnee St.
