Kansans offer condolences after Wichita firefighter Ty Voth dies in the line of duty

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita firefighter Ty Voth died in the line of duty Thursday afternoon . Local leaders and first responders from around the state are already offering their prayers, thoughts, and condolences. You can find those statements below.

“The death of any law enforcement officer is a tragedy. A generational firefighter, Ty Voth devoted his life to protecting and serving his community, and we owe him a debt of gratitude. My deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and colleagues at the Wichita Fire Department,” said Gov. Laura Kelly.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of a local Wichita firefighter that has passed away from injuries obtained at a house fire in the Haysville area. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ty Voth, his family, and all of those involved. Ty was a five-year veteran of the Wichita Fire Department and will be deeply missed,” said Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins.

“Firefighter Ty Voth graduated from Newton High School in 2015. He later worked for the Manhattan Fire Department before returning to Newton and taking a job with the Wichita Fire Department. Yesterday he gave the ultimate sacrifice while battling a house fire in Haysvillle. He will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace, Ty,” said Newton Fire/EMS.
