10 days left for Kansas families to see hundreds of attractions free

WICHITA, Kan. (KNSW) — There are just 10 days left for Kansas families to see hundreds of attractions for free.

The 2024 Sunflower Summer season began May 25 and ends Aug. 11. Through the program, Kansas families with children in preschool through 12th grade can get free, one-time admission to 220 attractions across the state.

The program was created in 2021 as a summer enrichment for Kansas students. It is a partnership between the Kansas State Department of Education, the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund, the KU Center for Public Partnerships and Research, and the Greenbush Education Service Center.

The program, which included just 70 attractions in its first year, now includes 220 attractions across Kansas. It is open to families with children in public, private, and home schools.

To participate, download the Sunflower Summer App to claim your tickets, and then present the digital tickets at attraction venues. Families are encouraged to post their visits on social media using the hashtags #ToTheStarsKS and #SunflowerSummer.
