Motorcyclist sentenced for Wichita fatal hit-and-run

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Valley Center man has been sentenced for a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed pedestrian Kristine Sheffield, 48, in 2023.

A judge sentenced 23-year-old Chase Faimon to two and a half years in prison. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident on June 18.

The Wichita Police Department said the deadly hit-and-run happened around 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023 , near 11th Street North and Broadway .

Upon arrival, officers say they found the woman, identified as Sheffield, in the street. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Police used a Flock camera to identify Faimon. He turned himself in two days later.

Faimon was also ordered to pay $7,500 to the Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board.
