WICHITA Kan. (KSNW) – Eliminating distractions in the classroom, Campus High School has a new cell phone policy this year.
Phones are only allowed during passing periods and at lunch.
Previously, each teacher chose whether to allow cell phones in their classroom.
The principal says this is more consistent for students and keeps the focus on learning.

“Cause a phone can be a tool, but it can also be a toy and a distraction, and that’s … That’s the big reason we put the policy in place is to limit the distractions in the classroom,” said Campus High School Principal Shane Seeley. “It’ll also help the teachers to not have to fight the battle every day with engagement over cell phones.”
The principal wants the new policy to increase interaction with kids and teachers.
The Haysville Middle School also has a similar policy.
The Haysville school district isn’t the only district implementing new cell phone policies this year. Wellington and Ellsworth have also adopted new policies. Make sure you check your school’s guidelines.
