Wichita family offering $50K to find driver responsible for deadly hit-and-run

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department is still looking for the driver in a hit-and-run early Sunday that killed Tad Doyle.

Now, his family is offering a $50,000 reward to find out who is responsible for his death.

Mindy Ward, Tad’s girlfriend, was there when the hit-and-run happened. She told KSN News that she was left helpless as the driver took off without stopping, leaving her boyfriend to die right before her eyes.

“So hurt and mad because they left, and I couldn’t help him properly or try to because I needed help moving him,” Ward said.

The couple was riding separate electric bikes. As Mindy pulled into the driveway, she heard a loud crash behind her.

“I asked if Tad had made it, and they said no, he didn’t make it,” Ward said.

Michael Poland, Tad’s best friend, rushed over, not believing he was gone.

“I think I’m still in shock now about it all. I don’t know that I’ve fully accepted what has happened yet. It’s been an emotional roller coaster,” Poland said.
