Young woman attacked after evening in Aggieville

MANHATTAN, Kan. (KSNW) — A young woman from the Wichita area was rushed to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka after someone attacked her early Friday in Manhattan.

Friends have said the woman was with them in Aggieville late Thursday, but they became separated as they were leaving.

The Riley County Police Department said the woman was communicating with her friends until 2:13 a.m. Friday. But then she was attacked in the 800 block of Laramie , a few blocks east of Aggieville. Someone called 911 around 2:30 a.m. to report the assault.

Ashley Tokoi, a police spokesperson, said the department does not yet have solid information about what happened. Police hope surveillance cameras will help them retrace the victim’s steps and expect to release more details on Tuesday afternoon.
