One of three suspects in City Nightz shooting pleads guilty

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — One of three men arrested and charged in connection to the shooting at a now-closed Wichita nightclub has pleaded guilty.

Jaylen Thomas, 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Sedgwick County District Court to two counts of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated assault. The shooting happened in July 2023 .

His co-defendant, Ameir King-Ingram, was sentenced to 53 months in prison in June . A third man, 28-year-old John Houze , is scheduled for a jury trial later this month.

Nine people were shot, and two people were trampled as people ran during the shooting. City Nightz closed the following month .

Sentencing for Thomas is scheduled for Nov. 1.
