Juvenile hospitalized after motorcycle crash involving a tree

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A juvenile was injured in a motorcycle crash in west Wichita Sunday afternoon.

According to the Wichita Police Department, just before 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of W. McCormick St. for a one-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. This is near the intersection of Lincoln Street and Osage Street.

WPD said the motorcycle was coming around a curve, lost control, hit a curb, and landed on a nearby tree, possibly hitting the tree.

“We’re still determining that at this time,” said WPD Seargent Jerry Manuel.

The driver, who is a juvenile, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Sedgwick County Dispatch initially told KSN that one person received potentially critical injuries.

“Just try to be as safe as possible. As fun as those type of vehicles are, they are still dangerous to operate, and it’s important that we operate them as safely as possible. Not only for ourselves as the rider but for the people around us,” said Sgt. Manuel. “And wear a helmet.”
