Via Christi St. Francis expanding emergency department waiting area

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita is expanding the emergency department waiting area.

The renovations will start on Tuesday. During construction, the hospital says that signage will guide patients and visitors arriving by private vehicle to a temporary entrance. Arrivals by EMS will remain unaffected.

The hospital says the project will double the footage and increase seating by 50%.

“This project will enhance our patients’ comfort and well-being when they visit the ED while also providing our emergency team with a more optimal space to deliver high-quality care,” said Roddex Barlow, President of Via Christi St. Francis.

The project is expected to be complete by early 2025.
