Band’s stolen trailer and equipment recovered by Wichita Police

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A band touring the country lost over $20,000 in equipment when thieves stole a trailer attached to their van. Now, Wichita Police say most of it has been recovered.

It began on the night of Sept. 5, when a band that had just opened for Here Comes the Mummies at the Cotillion returned to their hotel Thursday night and parked their van and trailer carrying their equipment outside.

The band’s keyboardist, Kevin Jarze, tells KSN News that a security camera outside an apartment complex behind the hotel captured the theft. Jarze says that shortly after 6 a.m., a large U-Haul truck is seen pulling up and, six minutes later, leaving with the band’s U-Haul trailer, which contained all of their instruments and equipment.

Wichita Police say officers later located the box truck involved in the theft, which had also been stolen, along with the trailer. After cutting the lock, they found most of the band’s instruments and equipment inside.
