Claritin petitions to change Wichita to ‘Wita’

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The allergy medication brand Claritin has launched a new campaign for its new Claritin Liquid , petitioning to rename Kansas’ largest city from Wichita to Wita.

The company has started a petition on Change.org to rename the city to take the “Ich out of Wichita.” They cite the report released this year by the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America that shows Wichita as the #1 worst city for people with allergies.

The report says that while the city has an average amount of pollen, there are not enough doctors who specialize in allergies and over-the-counter allergy medications are rarely used. Oklahoma and Tulsa had worse pollen levels but better access to allergy specialists than Wichita.

Claritin says that if the petition reaches 1,000 signatures, company representatives will visit Wichita to pass out 1,000 samples of the new Claritin Liquid.
