Testing delays opening of Wichita’s new water treatment plant

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH)-Due to the ongoing drought, much of Wichita’s focus is on water restrictions. The city is also working to finalize operations at its new water treatment facility that could help to alleviate the problem brought on by the lack of meaningful moisture at Cheney Lake, a primary Wichita water source. Original plans called for the plant to open this week, but that won’t happen until April. On Wednesday, 12 News looked into what’s contributed to the delay.
