Storm Track 3 Forecast: Rainy cold front followed by Fall-like temperatures

A strong cold front pushed across most of Kansas overnight bringing beneficial rains in many areas. Cooler north to northeast winds are bringing in a Fall-like airmass, right on time for this first day of Fall.

Early morning temperatures are much cooler across the state, compared with the highs in the 90s we experienced on Saturday.

The biggest rainfall amounts have occurred across southern and central parts of the Sunflower State.

The latest check on the main water supply for Wichita is Cheney Lake Reservoir which received 1-2 inches of rain overnight. Still, Cheney Lake has shown just a slight increase in water levels. The reservoir is still running 8 feet below its average level.

More rain is likely to fall across much of Kansas this morning then skies will remain overcast with scattered areas of showers and sprinkles during the afternoon today.

Today’s temperatures will truly feel like Fall which begins at 7:43 a.m. Highs will only be in the 50s and 60s along with a gusty north to northeast wind. South central Kansas will see temperatures falling through the 60s today!
