Local first responders heading to Florida for Helene relief

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Several Kansas agencies are sending a team to Florida to assist with the response to tropical storm Helene.

Kansas is deploying a Type 1 Swift Water Search and Rescue Team, leaving on Tuesday night. The task force consists of members from :

  • Derby Fire Department
  • Junction City Fire Department
  • Manhattan Fire Department
  • Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center
  • Olathe Fire Department
  • Sedgwick County Fire District 1
  • Wichita Fire Department
  • Office of the State Fire Marshal

The task force will be deployed until Oct. 8 unless the state of Florida changes its request.
