Wichita City Council looks at solar energy

During a work shop today, the Wichita City Council is discussing solar energy use within the city. Sedgwick County Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News the County’s been dealing with solar power in unincorporated area for some time. Baty says these are projects as big as 2,000 acres and the county has just concluded a year-long moritorium on such projects, while the county studied and planned its approach.

Recent rains have not helped much with the drought in south central Kansas. Baty tells KNSS News people may not realize just how serious the water problem is. Baty says “we need to be innovative” in conserving water and looking for new technology to help with a “finite” resource.

Baty commented during his weekly chat with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
