Endangered birds now flying free on remote island thanks to Sedgwick County Zoo

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – These birds were once extinct in the wild, but thanks to conservation efforts at the Sedgwick County Zoo, they are now finding new hope. Last month, the Sedgwick County Zoo successfully transported nine Guam Kingfishers, locally known as Sihek, to Palmyra Atoll National Wildlife Refuge in the Pacific Ocean as part of the Sihek Recovery Program.
