WACO, Texas (KSNW) — A Texas man arrested in Wichita in connection to a homicide in Texas has been sentenced to life in prison.
Our sister station, FOX 44 in Waco , reports it took a jury just 30 minutes to convict and sentence Derek Daigneault in the death of 26-year-old Mandy Reynolds. Reynold’s body was discovered in a brush fire in April of 2023.
Prosecutors say Daigneault had dumped her body and had set a fire to try to cover it up. Investigators notified Wichita police he may have been in the area.

He was arrested on April 9, 2023 , after running inside a Dillons at 13th and Tyler after striking several police vehicles in a high-speed chase. In March of this year , he was sentenced in that case to 9 years in prison before being returned to Texas to face murder charges.
Prosecutors say the victim was Daigneault’s cousin, but a specific motive for the crime was not provided.
