An investigation is underway to figure out how a 45-year-old woman in Clearwater died, authorities said Thursday.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether the death involved foul play. But law enforcement is asking anyone who knows what might have happened to call them.
Branden Stitt, public information officer for the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, said an autopsy scheduled for Friday would determine Melina Hinkle’s cause and manner of death.
Her body was found in a home in the 300 block of South Tracy in Clearwater around 10:21 a.m. Thursday by an acquaintance. That person called 911 and was in the home when officers and emergency medical services personnel arrived, Stitt said by email.
“The Clearwater Police Department has requested that the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division assume control of the case. The Sedgwick County Coroner’s Office is currently working to determine the cause and manner of death, with an autopsy scheduled for tomorrow,” Stitt wrote.
“Further details will be provided as they become available,” he added.
