WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A white Christmas is rare for Wichita. According to the National Weather Service, there have only been 13 white Christmases since 1888. It gives the city a 10% chance of having a white Christmas any given year.
The last white Christmas happened in 2013, when 2 inches of snow covered the ground. The snowiest Christmases had 4 inches of snow. One of those was in 2007, and the other was in 1962.

According to the Nationa Weather Service, a white Christmas is when 1 inch or more of snow is on the ground. The snow can fall on Christmas Day or be on the ground from a previous storm.
As for a record-high temperature, Wichita reached 67 degrees on Christmas Day in 2016. The record coldest high was 10 degrees in 1983.
