WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – It’s not easy juggling Christmas day, a flight, and packing at the same time. But Kansas State University football fans are making it happen to head out to the Rate Bowl.
“Don’t like to miss any games so when this one came out and it was announced it was going to be the day after Christmas, it was a pretty tough choice,” said KSU alum Rick Bloom of east Wichita. “Because it’s kind of hard to pick between being with family and then going to see your alma mater play.”
So, the family is splitting the difference. They are in Kansas to spend time with family for Christmas. Then, it’s off to Phoenix to see the Wildcats play the day after Christmas.
“But as soon as it was announced and we figured, oh, we can get maybe a chance to have warm weather and watch our team play, I’m like, we gotta go,” said Melissa Bloom. “So we tried to find the best, most economical way to let it happen. And my husband should be a travel agent. He’s pretty good at it. So we found some really good deals, and we’re going to head and have fun.”
