Wichita nonprofit helps NICU babies every Christmas

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – This Christmas, Bri White can sing to her baby girl while holding her.

“You make me happy when skies are grey.”

A moment that takes her back

“I used to sing that to her in the isolette,” White said.

An isolette that should have held two.

“I went into labor at 22 weeks with twin A, and I got admitted to Wesley, and a baby girl came right at 23 weeks and a day,” White said.

Ellianna was born in October 2023 at 1 pound and 1 ounce.

“She was supposed to be blind. She was supposed to have no movement in her body. She lost her fingers from an IV,” White said.

That Christmas Eve, Tiny Gifts For Tiny Warriors surprised families in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

“This bear represents not only hope, but it also kind of helps me in the moment. Twin A because I wish he was here, and this really helped comfort us.”

Throughout the year, the nonprofit gives gifts to encourage families in the NICU and cooks meals at the Ronald McDonald House, which houses family with children in the hospital for free.
