WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — On Thursday, Wichita Mayor Lily Wu announced her priorities for the city for 2025.
“The biggest goal is to reduce the significant budget deficit,” she said. “I will focus my priorities with the community on what’s most important based off of our community-wide survey.”

She said those priorities are:
- Crime – public safety, crime reduction, and crime prevention
- Streets – infrastructure that includes water and sewer
- Economic development – keeping the jobs Wichita has and creating more
- Homelessness
“The city has invested more than $13 million towards a homelessness part of the solution right here in our community for temporary sheltering so that people can connect to resources that are available here in our community,” Wu said.
