WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Wichita State men’s basketball team broke a three-game losing streak and won its first American Athletic Conference game of the season with a 68-59 victory against Charlotte.
The Shockers (11-6, 1-3) led by four at halftime and gradually created separation in the second half, establishing a nine-point lead midway through the final frame and never trailing by less than five in the final 10 minutes. Wichita State built a lead to as large as 14 but couldn’t run away with this one.
For the game, the Shockers shot 48.1% from the field, hitting 26 of 54 shot attempts. WSU only attempted 12 three-pointers, connecting on four. The Shockers narrowly outrebounded Charlotte, but took control largely on the back of winning the points-in-the-paint battle, 42-26.
