Salina police, FBI investigating ‘swatting’ call

SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) — Salina police and the FBI are investigating a case of “swatting.” It happened Monday, shortly before 1 p.m., when the police department received a call from a young man who claimed that his father shot his mother at their home in the 500 block of Regent Road.

The caller claimed they had run to a nearby Circle K convenience store to hide, which has no locations in Salina.

Salina police responded to the home but were already suspicious of the call. They contacted the home’s residents by phone and asked them to step outside.

They cooperated, and it was clear that no shooting had taken place, according to the police. A young person who lived at the home told police they were being harassed by someone from out of state that they had met online while playing Fortnite…
