WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Today is the warm before the storm as an expected high of 83 degrees this afternoon would tie the record high from 1921. However, it will not be the calm before the storm as strong and gusty winds from the south increase the fire weather concerns across Kansas.
A powerful storm system will sweep across Kansas tonight and Wednesday. The main concern with this weather maker will be snow chances and much colder temperatures. Strong and gusty north winds will create (near) blizzard conditions across central and western Kansas. While any snow accumulation will mainly be on grassy areas, low visibility and slick spots will make travel difficult tonight and tomorrow morning.
After seeing highs in the 30s and 40s on Wednesday, or roughly forty degrees colder than today, temperatures will quickly rebound into the 60s on Thursday underneath mainly sunny skies…
