WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Storm Team 12 Weather Alert continues into the night and Wednesday for high winds (topping 60 mph) and snow that will complicate travel through Wednesday morning. Although snow amounts are likely to remain somewhat light, the combination of snow and wind will make for very poor visibility on I-70 and I-135 early in the day.
The strongest wind gusts of 50-60 mph will start in western Kansas into the night and continue through early Wednesday afternoon. The rest of the state may not have those kinds of winds until mid-morning Wednesday, and they will continue through early evening. Statewide, the wind will keep going down after sunset Wednesday.
Look for highs to be near 60 once again Thursday with much lower wind speeds.
A series of cold fronts will be coming late in the week and this weekend. Unfortunately, much of the state will be facing more dry weather in the extended forecast. High temperatures will remain near or slightly warmer than average…
