Two men arrested in connection to kidnapping case during traffic stop

(KAKE) – Two adults have been arrested after a Kansas state trooper found that they were linked to the kidnapping of a 6-year-old girl.

In a Facebook post, a trooper assigned to the Kansas Highway Patrol’s criminal interdiction unit stopped an SUV for a traffic violation on a four-lane highway. During the stop, it was discovered that the passenger in the front seat had a warrant for his arrest from another state for kidnapping a 6-year-old girl just over a month ago. The trooper had observed a girl about that age inside the vehicle with the two adult men, both of whom were in their 60’s. The driver had a criminal history that included homicide and numerous weapons violations over the years.

After the trooper and a deputy from a local sheriff’s office quickly secured both the driver and passenger, the trooper was able to safely remove the girl from the vehicle. The girl gave the trooper a false name and birthday, after having been coached to do so, in an attempt to keep the adult out of jail. Ultimately, the trooper calmed the girl down and got her to tell him her real name. She was the kidnapping victim, who had been with the suspect for over a month on the run…
