Wichita truck driver dies in highway crash with oil derrick

SHERIDAN COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — A driver was killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash involving a flatbed truck and an oil derrick on K-23 Highway in Sheridan County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 3 p.m., about 6.5 miles south of US-24 Highway, near K-23 and Road 70 South.

In a report, the KHP says the truck, a 1979 Kenworth flatbed hauling an oil derrick, was traveling southbound when the driver attempted to turn right into a ditch to gain additional clearance.
