Man charged in Wichita shooting spree headed for trial

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The case of a 33-year-old man facing charges that include first-degree murder in connection with a November shooting spree that the Sedgwick County sheriff described as “a rampage” is headed for trial. Jose Acosta is in the Sedgwick County Jail where other listed charges include interference with law enforcement, drug possession, criminal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, battery and criminal discharge of a firearm.

A few days after the crime, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter released a timeline of events from the night of Nov. 22 that resulted in one man’s death and left another man’s dog injured.

Easter said the incident started at 8:49 p.m. at Prospect Park when 40-year-old Myron Tucker was shot and killed. Minutes later, at 8:52 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in the 1400 block of N. Otis where a person had been pistol whipped and had their bicycle stolen…
