Two Liberal High School powerlifters won state Saturday at Wichita East High School. Tyren Holmes and Klaire Anderson won state in their division. Several of the Iron Reds competed at the 6A event and they competed well. One week after winning nationals in Appleton, Wisconsin, Holmes (PWT) won state with a squat of 650 pounds, a bench of 440 lbs, and a dead lift of 615 pounds for 1,705 total. Anderson (140) won state with a squat of 250, and bench of 130, and a dead lift of 255 for a total of 635. Alex Schwindt (172) was second with a 450 squat, a 285 bench, and a 435 dead lift for a total of 1,170.
