Weather Alert: System produces strong thunderstorms, tornado threats in central Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – An active night for severe weather in portions of Kansas prompted multiple tornado warnings with a storm impacting several central Kansas counties. The severe storm pattern was forecast to continue through the night into Wednesday morning, impacting areas farther south, including Wichita.

Late Tuesday night included reports of possible tornadoes touching down near Kanopolis Lake, in Ellswoth County and near and possibly in the City of Salina.

The chance for severe storms continues into Wednesday morning with Tuesday night’s active pattern ongoing. Tornado warnings issued after midnight included portions of northwest McPherson County, southeastern Ellsworth County and southwestern Saline County. A severe storm capable of producing a tornado was located about nine miles northwest of Marquette, or 10 miles southeast of Kanopolis, moving northeast at 55 mph…
